I have found an interesting website with interactive maps. Currently the maps are of the past few election cycles. Each of the maps are equipped with a mouse-over capability to show the underlying data that caused the color of the state shown. At the bottom is a cartogram option. It was pretty neat. These maps are a little more informative than flat maps because the mouse-over option lets the reader see the data from which the map was drawn. It helps to see that some of the red states are not completely red and the same for the blue. This makes them more useful. Electoral-Vote is the home of these maps. The "Votemaster" has promised to update the maps as more info becomes available for the 2008 presidential race.
